Hanover Shoe Farms is a large Standardbred breeding operation standing 10 stallions with a band of 400 broodmares of which 350 will foal next year. Hanover Shoe is looking to fill a 6-month internship that runs from January to July, during our busy foaling and breeding season. We are currently looking for an intern interested in our 2019 internship.
The farm offers CR, ultrasound, a neonatal hyperbaric oxygen chamber, embryo transfer, and fully equipped practice vehicles. After a period of shadowing the two resident veterinarians, intern duties will include assisting with treating cases on the farm, including administering plasma to foals, feeding foals via NGT, infusing mares with intrauterine antibiotics and placing caslick sutures, and being present for all dystocias on the farm. The intern will be integrated into a rotational on-call schedule with the resident vets and will always have a resident vet available as back up to assist with emergencies as needed. Housing is provided; the farm pays for all utilities except for cable tv/internet. A farm vehicle will also be provided. Interns must be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Interested students should send a letter of intent, CV, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Paige Miller (firstname.lastname@example.org). Any questions about the position can be sent to Dr. Miller.
Must be able to obtain a veterinary license in Pennsylvania.
Additional Salary Information: Housing, health insurance, and a company vehicle are provided. Utilities, except for Internet/Cable, are paid by the farm.
