Summary: Responsible for ensuring high veterinary medical standards and quality of service in the Surgery Center and serves as a clinical practicing veterinarian. Oversees shelter Medical Care, drug and treatment protocols, performs surgical sterilization of dogs and cats in the Surgery Center to include high volume and pediatric spay/neuter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Set up veterinary care protocols for animals at the HSPPR Colorado Springs location and establishes medical and general care protocols for the health and well-being of the animals. • Ensures sound veterinary medical practices. • Sets standards and performs spay/neuter and occasionally other surgical procedures. • Set standards and performs medical care for shelter and surgery related post adoption patients. • Responsible for compliance with all laws pertaining to controlled drugs • Responsible for assessing animal health. • Oversees and develops protocols to maintain or improve herd health. • Responsible for enhancing professional knowledge and skills. • Participates in daily medical rounds.
