ARL’s Community & Shelter Medicine department serves animals in our three shelters as well as animals and their families in the communities where they live. The Spay Waggin’, a mobile veterinary surgical unit, provides low cost spay and neuter services to animals and people in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. The Community Surgical Clinic provides both veterinary and surgical services twice weekly at our Dedham location to animals and people in need, including the Community Cat Initiative. The Pet Wellness Clinic – Codman Square is a weekly clinic for local residents and their pets.

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university. Must have a valid and current Massachusetts license to practice Veterinary Medicine. A minimum of four years’ experience in the practice of Veterinary Medicine required. Licensure in good standing to practice in Massachusetts
*Must maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and must be insurable with the League’s automobile insurance policy.
*Must be willing and able to drive the Wellness Waggin' when needed.
Proficient in dentistry and soft-tissue surgery; orthopedic experience a plus.
Must be of good moral character and must have an even disposition and emotional control.
Must have the ability to evaluate problems accurately and display well, sound judgment when working without supervision and under emotional stress.
A high level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills are required.
Must be physically capable of performing all the duties including lifting at least 50 pounds.
