Bad Ass Veterinarian Wanted for Busy AAHA Clinic in AZ with Awesome Hospital Cat
Advanced Animal Care
Do you like people (including clients – because they come with the job), diagnosing vomiting dogs, treating unhappy cats, and helping old grey-muzzled pets? We know it’s a lot to ask, but we really want to find that one perfect person to fit our brand of crazy.
Are you ready to learn new things and be challenged to stretch and grow (but NOT break) as a veterinarian and human?
If so, then read on, we may have the role for you.
About Advanced Animal Care
Our Primary Veterinarian, Dr. Erika Cartwright, and Administrator, Jenn Galvin opened our hospital in 2012. It was an old clinic that sat empty for several years before they took it on. It was completely renovated and the latest and greatest toys have been added and updated. Since then we have steadily grown, added two more doctors, and are excited to add more!
We have done this by focusing on looking after our clients, each other, and pets. We’re a tight-knit team. So, we’re looking for an associate who loves people and pets (we know the pet part is easy). We want someone who has the basics down that enjoys laughing with us, educating clients, and is ready to learn and help others learn too.
We’re not looking for someone who will work themselves into the ground because we care about each other as much as we care about pets and clients. Profit matters, but it’s not the most important thing to us. Our people come first, then pets, then clients - if we get this stuff right, then we know that money will look after itself.
So what can you expect from us?
Well first, we hold ourselves to a high standard. So, for example, to perform anesthetic procedures everything gets an IV catheter, mandatory pain control, and we use the best drugs available. We use up to date monitors, we use safe heating air warmers, and we train and retrain our staff. We record incidents and we review our practice and process in a no-blame way so it’s the safest it can be for our patients.
With our dentals (we do a lot of these - so if you hate dentistry then don’t work here), we take digital radiographs and our doctors perform surgical extractions, pain blocks, and even do orthodontics. We use the best, well-maintained equipment.
This is the way we approach our work, and we’re a long way from getting it perfect every day. But we try, and a lot of days we get close (which makes us happy - because safe, happy, healthy pets are why we get out of bed).
We want humble team-mates that can join our team and have great fun a good laugh. None of us are perfect; we’re all learning, growing and moving forward. And we want to work with people who push us to get better, who call us out when we might be wrong, who gently steer us back in the right direction.
We’re a small practice, but we want to offer the very best we can. So we have a package that includes a competitive salary with pro-sal opportunity, CE allowance and paid days off to attend it, paid dues and memberships, paid time off, health insurance contribution, 401k match, pet care discounts and pet insurance, a 4 day work week, and uniform allowance.
We need you full time and we are open on weekends. We currently see appointments and perform surgeries Sunday through Friday. There is on call responsibilities that rotate every other week on Saturdays to share, but you’ll only receive calls from technicians that need your help. You also don’t come in for emergencies overnight.

What we want from you…
We are looking first and foremost for someone who can fit our team culture and values. You’ll have a great way of making clients feel comfortable and welcome in our clinic. You’ll also have confidence in your own abilities.
There are a few other things we need:
If you can do that, we'd be very, very proud to call you a teammate.
(And if you can be that, or be willing to work towards it.... could you also never leave?)
Thanks for reading.
