POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Professional Services Veterinarian is to meet the technical needs of their respective veterinary sales region.  This individual will interact with our veterinary customer base by giving presentations at various venues (local and national), and train & support sales representatives on the use of scientific information during sales calls.  The professional services veterinarian will also coach sales representatives on technical selling, assist in the development and presentation of materials, and lead our veterinary student representative program at select veterinary colleges within their region. 

This is a remote eligble role with support to the Western Regions in the United States. This candidate while remote will have to be comfortable with travel (up to 50%) for local and natural events and supporting sales representatives. This role will not support sponsorship for individuals who are in need of company sponsorship to work in the United States. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Execute the following responsibilities with a moderate degree of independence, while maintaining an understanding of the business goals and strategies, products, markets, customers, competitive situations, and key players related to our products
• Participate in technical "ride-withs" and “in-services” with the veterinary sales force and support veterinary consultations/call center support from respective regional veterinary inquiries
• Serve as the region’s technical expert, evaluating regional and individual technical training needs of the representatives and working with the sales management team to coach veterinary sales representatives on communication and sales of our therapeutic nutrition portfolio
• Develop and conduct technical sales training to our sales representatives and distributor sales representatives as needed
• Prepare and deliver technical lectures on our product line at VMA’s, conferences, and professional veterinary organizations
• Meet with key opinion leaders and veterinary school faculty to discuss potential new business opportunities
• Lead Blue Buffalo’s veterinary college student representatives at select veterinary colleges within their region
• Represent Blue Buffalo at Veterinary Schools, professional veterinary associations, conferences, and events
• Actively work with the marketing and the veterinary affairs team in the development of presentations and marketing communications; provide insights for internal team members of current and emerging marketplace trends and needs
• Provide an animal health perspective to internal team members, including ITQ (innovation, technology and quality) on current and emerging products and formulations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• DVM/VMD from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical companion animal veterinary general or specialty practice
• Animal health industry experience preferred but not required
• Proficient knowledge of companion animal nutrition
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Competency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Must be able to work effectively with our customers and our sales force
• Practical and industrial experience in the veterinary business channel
• Ability to propose new applications to support product and / or business expansion, ability to develop strong networks internally and externally beyond initial field of expertise
• Experience in developing partnerships, influencing and superior communication skills
• This position requires a strong medical background, excellent understanding of companion animal nutrition
• Strong demonstrated leadership and clinical expertise in field for effective collaboration with external and internal stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills for bridging between scientific and business or regulatory participants

• Ability to integrate new information and adapt plans accordingly

• Skillful in translating business requirements to actionable solutions and providing input into developing compelling proposals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with companion animal research experience, other advanced degrees preferred but not required
