We are currently building a brand-new shelter and clinic facility, and we are searching for a veterinarian who is excited to help design the clinic that they will be working in! While our new facility is being constructed, we have a comfortable temporary clinic location beside our old facility, making it easy to manage both shelter and community animals. GSHS is fortunate to have wonderful relationships with several full-service veterinary clinics in the area as well as our local emergency veterinary clinic should a situation present itself that we are unable to handle in-house.
Responsibilities for shelter support include diagnosing and treating animals, stabilizing ill and injured animals, and performing spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets. Our walk-in clinic is run by our skilled Veterinary Technicians offering basic vaccines and testing only. They manage all clinic patients while our veterinarian focuses on spay/neuter for the first part of the day and then on shelter animal exams at the end of the day. Our veterinary department includes two full time Veterinary Technicians and two skilled Surgical Technicians, one of whom has worked with GSHS for ten years. Our shelter staff includes 14 team members dedicated solely to primary animal care. Additionally, we have two amazing full time adoption counselors and an exceptionally dedicated shelter manager.
We are offering a generous compensation package and the opportunity to work in a fun environment with other like-minded, passionate people who make a difference every single day. We are fully committed to providing each and every public and shelter animal with the highest standard of care. There is nothing more important to our team than the safety and comfort of all of our animals. All staff members at Grand Strand Humane Society work together as a team, regardless of their title, for the benefit of our animals. Years ago we made the decision to stop euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals for space and it was the right decision and the only option for Grand Strand Humane Society. The decision did increase our financial struggle, but we will continue finding every healthy, adoptable animal a forever family as long as it is financially feasible. Because of these efforts we are now proud to be a part of the No-Kill South Carolina community.Grand Strand Humane Society is further committed to providing excellent customer service to those people visiting our facility in the hopes that all our animals can find caring... and loving homes. Grand Strand Humane Society also strives to educate our community about responsible pet ownership and works hard to investigate and prevent animal cruelty of all kinds. We make every effort to provide all communities within our area cost-effective adoption rates as well as low-cost spay & neuter surgeries and preventative healthcare services.
