Jenison Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinarian to join our team! We are proud to remain locally owned and operated - practice medicine in the way that drives your passion! New graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply.
We are a small, yet mighty, veterinary hospital located in Jenison, MI about 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids AKA Beer City USA! We service the Georgetown, Jenison, Hudsonville, Grandville, and Grand Rapids areas. The hospital has been open for over 50 years and is considered a staple in the community. Our small, local spot has been serving generations of people and their pets and was purchased by a new owner in 2023. We are excited to be keeping generational care alive! We offer typical general practice services to our clients and patients such as preventative care, urgent care during normal business hours, medical workups, dental care, and surgical services. A job at Jenison is different from your typical veterinary job. You would have the opportunity to join the team early on in our growth process and can help us build Jenison Animal Hospital from the “ground” up! The sky is the limit when it comes to the services we offer and the way we grow - if you can dream it, we can do it!
We are looking for a Veterinarian who is committed to working 2-4 consistent days a week to help give our patients a voice by providing compassionate, innovative care. Our team is eager to learn and collaborate with our future veterinarians and we would love to partner with a veterinarian who is interested in community volunteer work, working alongside future MSU grads, and enjoys teaching others inside the hospital as well as outside. While we generally need our medicine moving in the same direction, you will not be handcuffed to “cookie-cutter” medicine and encouraged to pursue whatever drives your professional “fire”. The schedule will include routine and non-routine appointments, surgeries, dental procedures, and follow-up care. You can see anywhere between 15 - 20 appointments in a day and expect at least one day devoted to routine and non-routine surgeries recommended by you or your team. The owning veterinarian, Dr. Hilferty, enjoys mentoring and learning from others in the process.
Pay – We are well-versed in current compensation packages, and this will be tailored to the applicant based on experience, personal needs, and desired workload. Pay can be pro-sal, salary only, or include future buy-in to the hospital.
Benefits – 3 weeks of paid vacation time, front-loaded. Discounted services and products at the hospital. AVMA, local VMA dues paid for if desired. VIN or other online resource subscription of the applicant’s choice. Veterinary license renewal fees and DEA license fees are reimbursed when renewing. We will also provide a C.E. stipend yearly based off on individual needs. A lucrative 401K plan is currently offered and in effect within 90 days of your start date.
We believe in creating a work environment, culture, and work schedule that allows us to find joy in our everyday work while making time for the important things in life. We will plan to tailor a schedule to the needs of both the applicant and the hospital. We currently are not open for any weekend hours, and we do not see after-hour emergencies (we are open to both if this is something the right candidate is interested in doing). We are lucky to be surrounded by several emergency hospitals eager to provide after-hours and weekend care for those patients in need so we can focus on excellent care during the week. Our goal is to create a thriving place to work that nurtures a positive team culture by adapting and involving with the employee, patient, and client needs.
We are excited to meet applicants who have enthusiasm for providing excellent veterinary care and enjoy working in a fun and collaborative environment! Whether we are a stepping stone in your professional career or you are looking for your slice of the veterinary pie - we could be a great fit for you. Pursue your passion without corporate limitations and pursue your dreams at Jenison Animal Hospital - we are open to redefining the veterinary standards of care and creating a new future for veterinary professionals whether it's mobile veterinary care, ultrasound, orthopedics, dentistry, or pain management, we are looking forward to building your future together. As the industry progresses, we want to progress with it and for you to be a part of that!
