Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 6 pm (Rock Hill is open Monday and Thursday until 7 pm for Urgent Care Visits)
Every Saturday 8:30 am - 12 pm (Rock Hill Only).
Currently, we provide ambulatory services on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and clinic appointments by the same schedule. Given the nature of ambulatory care, the days may extend beyond 6 pm so please be sure to plan and act accordingly.
Our doctors have rounds with our technicians at our RH location daily depending on the patients that are hospitalized in addition to surgical cases. Every month our doctors meet in the evening to discuss cases and medical care. You are welcome to attend all of these events during your externship
While in the clinic it is important to wear clean scrubs and closed-toed shoes. You are welcome to wear a lab coat if you would like but most of our doctors wear logoed sweaters or pullovers overtop of their scrubs.
Our ambulatory service team members will often wear a polo shirt or scrub top with dark-colored jeans or khaki pants. We would strongly recommend that you also have good shoes as they will likely get dirty. It is also critical to have a pair of waterproof boots and coveralls/overalls as we do care for cattle and require us to fully decontaminate.
Please be sure to bring a working stethoscope with you in all areas of the practice. It would be in your best interest to always have an extra set of scrubs, clothes, and coveralls with you each day. You never know what sort of fun things we are going to get involved with.
During your time we fully accept and expect you to be involved as much as possible. We expect you to take an active role in examining patients, and communicating with clients (when and where appropriate. We will also allow you to draw blood and administer medications. However, all of this is dependent on the comfort of the owner as well as the comfort and safety of the patient. It is ultimately up to the discretion of the veterinarian you are immediately working with that day.
When the opportunity arises we will also allow you to participate in surgical procedures. Again, as long as the client approves and the patient’s care and welfare is not sacrificed
